So... anyone want a free cat at all? Yes... it's THAT cat. Yes, he's still here. Yes, I'm too soft. Yes, I've been taken advantage off for way too long.
He's spent all winter outside and he deserves better. I've tried again to contact his previous owner with no success. So come next week I will take him to a shelter. Unless someone takes him I don't think I've got much choice. |

| Kai's Dog |
[Nov. 13th, 2009|07:36 pm] |
Two years ago I made a bear for squishings's first child. She's onto her second child now so this one got a dog. The dog looked a bit retarded once I'd sewed him and turned him right side out, but once he was all decorated up and had himself a bow he looked a bit better.
Kai was as thrilled with him as Callum was with his bear at the same age.... but Callum was much more excited about the dog this time round!

( More dog.. ) |

| Got wood? |
[Nov. 13th, 2009|05:34 pm] |

I scored 2nd prize in this years Lure Racing Christmas raffle. The prize is a hamper of random stuff. Some nifty, some useful, some that will be passed onto people like my nieces. There was one item though that has us a bit stumped... just really sort of out of place with everything else and really not sure who could make use of it.......

It looks quite comprehensive, but I don't really need to know the characteristics and uses of wood in australia so if anyone can make use of it then it's all yours! |

| FREE CAT |
[Jul. 18th, 2009|11:27 am] |

Adult desexed male cat desperately needs a new home. Calem comes with his own carrier and food bowl.
He was taken in temporarily about 3 years ago and has long overstayed his welcome. Due to fighting and bullying of my pets his has now been expelled to live outside permanently, which is not the most ideal place for him over winter. That being said I think he would thrive as an only fur-child. He is quite cuddly and friendly on his own.
I had hope that his previous carer was going to make alternate arrangements for him, but the last couple of months has been a continuation of unanswered phone calls and no response to any messages.
Calem deserves a home that can provide that attention he deserves and not being shut out in the cold. If you are or know some one who might be interested please let me know. Thank you! |

| | cranky | ] | Far too long ago I took in a cat on a temporary basis as raven_sirius couldn't have him where he was. That was about 3 years ago now I guess.
For many months now I've been trying to get some response from the owner, with deafening silence.
There's been no food provided for the cat since July 2008. I advised him that I wouldn't tolerate a cat spraying in the house September 2008, which he had begun, and that if it continued that other arrangements for the cat would have to be made. As well the spraying he also bullies my pets and is generally disruptive in this household. (I think he would fine in a one cat household though)
There's been quite a few smses, voicemails, emails from me since that time. I got 1 sms response in December that didn't actually respond to any of the issues, including others not related to the cat as well. I last saw him in person at New Years where I said in person that I'd sent both sms and emails recently that he needed to respond to. It was a group situation so I didn't push it at the time.
I've even recently tried putting word out through LJ and Facebook asking if others saw him to tell him to contact me.
There's been nothing.
So..... since it's been 10 months since there's been any food supplied for the cat and there's been no response to any of my queries about his interest/intention for the cat or any of the stuff left in my garage in that time as well can I move forward by assuming that it's all been abandoned and I can do whatever I choose with it? |

| Soldering |
[Apr. 27th, 2009|10:36 pm] |
Anyone a dab hand at soldering? And have the right tools for it?
In short I have a motherboard on which I need the existing powerjack desoldered(?) and a new one soldered on.
I have the new jack and the motherboard has been extracted from the laptop. It's not a hard job, but I don't have the right tools for it or the experience.
Before we take it to someone who will most likely charge us a minimum hour labour charge for a 5 minute job I thought it was worth a shot asking around.
So... anyone think they could and would be willing to do it?

[Apr. 24th, 2009|01:36 am] |
If anyone speaks to Russ ( raven_sirius) or he actually responds to your messages can you tell him that he needs to call me please.
I can't get any response - that's nothing new though - but he really does need to call me about his cat.
Thanks. |

So... if anyone has my work email address they can delete it. I no longer work there.
About 6 weeks ago I decided I was really over it for certain this time. Didn't matter if I had another job lined up or not. Some time off sounded good. I'll take some time to work out when I'm ready to go back to work and what I want to go back to.
I finished up last friday and am now on day 2 of... well unemployment i guess. :) |

| Blue |
[Nov. 7th, 2008|11:31 pm] |
For many years now I've collected blue Polish drink-ware. Also in there is the occasional purple, green and smoke piece as well, but it's mainly blue.
With the imminent arrival of phroggiepuddles there's just not room for the both of them, so the glassware is to be packed up into storage.
So tonight I pulled it all out of the cupboards in the spare room. My intention was to photograph each set before packing it (and it's something I've intended to do for a long while for my own reference), but now that it's out I'm a little overwhelmed by the amount of it there is. I can't imagine how long it would take to photograph it all.
Part of me wonders if I've got some sort of problem. Maybe I need some sort of intervention. Though I wonder more if I'll ever actually have the space/house to display it all properly. I'll certainly never be short on glasses.

There's one shelf in the lounge that gets to stay for at least the time being.

And that's not all... there's a removal carton of glassware already in the garage that I never really unpacked when I first moved into this house. |

| | pissed off | ] | The cat that was supposed to be temporary - over 2 years ago now I think - has taken up spraying inside. If that wasn't bad enough he seems to have a penchant for spraying heaters in particular. The lounge heater has been sprayed - again. I've pulled it apart and cleaned it - again. I thought it was bad one of the previous times, but I can't even go into the lounge without gagging this time.
It's not so bad when it's off, but imagine heated cat pee! Cos I've got the choice of that or freezing. Though I dunno whether to leave the heater on and try and burn the smell out of it, cos even with it off I don't think I can stand to spend much time in there anyway. So hanging out in the lounge is off for tonight.
It's an indescribable smell. You probably wouldn't want to drop in for a visit in the next couple of days. |

| Fuckers! |
[Aug. 26th, 2008|01:09 pm] |
You'd think your home was safe when you were actually home, but apparently not. Well I know things happen when people are home. I know it's not that black and white, but perhaps I was a little naive, but I figured that cos I was home and working in the back yard that the back door being open was quite acceptable. The front door obviously being shut and locked from the outside.
Apparently it's also quite acceptable to someone to wander into my backyard, in the back door, open various cupboards and drawers in the kitchen and my bedroom and then walk out the front door with my hand bag, my work bag, my toiletry bag and j's season 3 of Deadwood that happened to be in my overnight bag with my toiletries.
They appear not have been in any other rooms - where there was probably better stuff to steal. Possibly they've made it really quick knowing I was around or maybe I even spooked them before they had a chance to check out the rest of the house. Even though they've gone through drawers & cupboards I cannot find anything else missing apart from the bags and the stuff in them. There's certainly nothing much of value in my bedroom apart from clothes and I haven't kept good jewelry out since the last burglary 5 years ago. I happened to have my purse, mobile and keys with me outside as I'd been to Bunnings and the 7-11 before starting work outside, so that's saved the pain of having to cancel and replace all of that.
The window of opportunity for them had to have been really small, but it was obviously enough. Probably within the space of half an hour and during that time I was in the backyard. So they've managed to time it just as I've probably been down the side of the house or around behind the garage.
So I guess I can say I've gotten out of it really lightly. It's the annoyance factor of some of the things that have gone. My diary that had everything in it! Including bills that are due in the next couple of weeks. The toiletry bag had all the stuff I use daily that hits home that is gone when you go to use things - no toothbrush, no hairbrush, no deodorant, makeup, etc! Grrr.
The police have done their bit, but there's not a lot they can do. And it's really borderline whether it's worth making a claim vs. the excess. Plus making a claim would put the premium up next year, so I'm leaning towards not bothering at the moment.
#$%*#@!!!!!
Oh, and obviously Molly's no guard dog! |

| Not my car! |

| | relieved | ] |

I've probably done pretty well for no major damage to my car in 5 years. Even this isn't particularly bad, especially as I'm still driving it. Currently the damaged bits are being held on or in by tape. This happened sometime Sunday in Brunswick. I wasn't there when it happened. We discovered it late in the afternoon and there was no note and anyone around initially that knew anything about it. So there was initial shock and annoyance that I was up for paying for damage I didn't even do! The lady who did it though arrived not long after to leave her details.
She was driving a hire van and was apparently relying on her brother to direct her while parking. I don't think she'll be doing that again. She initially had me running around trying to get quotes on the repair. I think she was hoping that it wouldn't be much and could pay for the repair herself instead of having to pay the excess to the hire company. The van apparently came out without a scratch. It was the steel van bumper that did the damage. (That's one big advantage of non-plastic modern vehicles. My first car had a shiny steel bumper - I don't know how many things I hit or nudged with it and there was never a mark on it!)
I've now discovered how hard and frustrating it is trying to get a non-insurance repair quote! gah! I did get one though and they put it about the $1600 mark. So.... she's now paid the excess to the hire company.
The damage is annoying but it was going to be repaired. What's been bugging me the most is what I was going to do without a car for however long it took to fix. One of the repairers I spoke to said it was a relatively small job so about 5 days.... How am I going to get to work?
I rang the hire company this morning to see how things were going to proceed. Within half an hour it was all sorted. It's booked in for Monday morning with a panel beater and a driver will be out to me Sunday afternoon to pick up my car and leave me with one of their hire cars until it's finished. I've been having visions of this dragging on for ages, so apart from it never happening at all, I have no complaints about the hire company's service and am now feeling quite relieved. |
